About the venue and the company

Babylon will be a sprawling Middle Eastern inspired restaurant and bar, located on a rooftop space on Pitt Street in the CBD.

Occupying more than half of the rooftop, Babylon includes a 200-seat a la carte restaurant, a wood-fired kitchen, indoor/outdoor dining, a large outdoor bar terrace and two private dining rooms.

Head Chef Arman Uz will lead the kitchen and has developed a menu inspired by Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean cuisine . The shared menu is split into flora, fauna and ocean with the majority of dishes cooked over wood and charcoal in our open architecturally designed kitchen.

The interiors have been inspired by the once-thriving metropolis Babylon was, as well as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The diagram for the space has been derived from a series of adjoining buildings and rooms, bound by a laneway and leading you through to an outdoor terrace framed with abundant greenery.

This will be the MGH’s 14th venue and second venue in Sydney so you can be sure you will be joining a well-established, family-owned, successful hospitality company with over 40 years’ experience in the industry. Mantle Group Hospitality is expanding with the addition of several new venues  throughout QLD & NSW the next twelve months.

The role

We are seeking a chef and a cook to join our team. As a Chef  you will need to deliver high quality dishes, consistently well, in a fast-paced, busy Restaurant environment. You will be required to prep and do service. As a cook you will be required to support the chef in his daily duties to deliver high quality dishes, consistently well, in a fast-paced, busy Restaurant environment.

You will be required to help the chef prep and do service. You will receive great support in your role from our senior kitchen team and Central Kitchen facility. Enjoy career opportunities as MGH develops greater presence in Sydney with more venues opening up in 2019

The Chef

  • Must be Reliable, level headed, punctual and organised.
  • Passionate about what they do, innovative and experienced in a la carte cooking.
  • Experience as a chef is a must and a cert 3 or higher will be required.
  • Work fast, clean and motivate team by leading by example.
  • Deliver great food consistently.
  • Assist the team with ordering, cooking for dietary requirements and assist with functions will be required.

The Cook

  • Must be Reliable, level headed, punctual and organised.
  • Passionate about what they do, innovative and experienced in a la carte cooking.
  • Experience as a cook is a must with a minimum of 2 years full time experience.
  • Work fast, clean and motivate team by leading by example.
  • Deliver great food consistently whilst following orders from the chef.
  • Assist the team with ordering, cooking for dietary requirements and assist with functions will be required.
